This is not any label sampler, this is a Tru Thoughts label sampler. By which we mean the two CDs, which have been compiled by Rob Louis, are packed with treats and surprises that take this way beyond a collection of ‘previously released tracks’. Probably the biggest, and loveliest, surprise is the dub version of the Dr Who Theme from Smerins Anti-Social Club, but we also have remixes of Natural Self (by Prince Fatty and himself), Kinny (by Stonephace and Azaxx), Saravah Soul (an exclusive remix by Quantic), Maddslinky (by At Jazz), Kylie Auldist (by Hint) and Quantic and his Combo Bárbaro with another exlusive remix, this one from DJ Day. The Bamboos have a DJ Yoda remix, as well as an Acoustic version of ‘Like Tears In Rain’, and there is the first taste of the forthcoming Nostalgia 77 LP. The 30 tracks are split across the two CDs with the more laid back ones kicking off the first, and the second focusing more on the dancefloor. At less than 5 English Pounds, it’s difficult to think of a reason not to buy this album, even if it’s just for the exclusive tracks, but it’s great to see the wonders of the Tru Thoughts stable gathered together under the same roof once again. ’Shapes 10:02′ is released on the 6th of December 2010.
